Oyster mushrooms are our absolute favorite! Your one pound bag of oyster mushrooms will be grey oyster and/or yellow oyster. If David is feeling mushroom happy, you might get some pink oyster mushrooms too.
We love to saute these oyster mushrooms to eat with a bowl of rice
+ our kimchi
Prep: When preparing oyster mushrooms, there's no need to wash mushrooms like you'd wash a piece of fruit. Simply use a towel to brush off any dirt off your fanciful fungi.
Use: For oyster mushrooms, simply rip them into pieces with your hands! The trick to cooking mushrooms is LOW and SLOW. We like to cook ours in cast iron over low heat with butter or olive oil. Sometimes both. Don't forget to salt! And add some acid at the end, if you're feeling like it: lemon, vinegar, etc.
King Mushroom Farm
is just an hour from us on Maryland's Eastern Shore. We're neighbors with them at many area farmers markets. David Kind started his mushroom business a few years after us in 2015. It's been a joy to grow our businesses next to each other over the years.
