Dicot Farm - Tuesday August 25 Lineup

Dicot Farm is a small, but mighty certified organic farm just 25 miles south of DC! The veggies are picked just days before delivery for incredibly fresh + nutritious vegetables.
The small, organic veggie bag for Tuesday 8/25 will include:
- 1.5 to 2 lbs spaghetti squash OR delicate squash: Our recommendation for spaghetti squash: carefully cut in half, scoop out seeds, rub with olive oil, salt & pepper, and roast face down in a 400 degree oven until you can easily pierce with a fork (usually 30-45 min). Use a fork to pull squash flesh into strands. Our recommendation for delicata squash: cut in half, scoop out seeds, cut into 1 inch slices (no need to peel it - the peel is tender and can be eaten!). Toss on a sheet pan with a little bit of olive oil, salt & pepper and roast in a 400 degree oven until you can easily pierce with fork (usually 20-30 min depending on size of slices). You may want to flip the slices halfway through roasting. Both types are great topped with fresh tomato sauce!
- Spicy salad mix (1/4 lb bag) - greens are finally starting to come back after this incredibly wet, hot, and humid couple of months (i.e., not the ideal environment for growing greens). Great as a salad base or very lightly sauteed or added to egg dishes.
- Pint of shishito peppers: saute or grill whole in oil and garlic at high heat until blistered and a little charred, tossing frequently. Serve whole with a little salt and lemon juice.
- 2-3 onions
- Pint of sweet peppers
Dicot Farm is a certified organic farm in Waldorf, MD. They're just across the Potomac River from us - this means your veggies are traveling less than an hour to us! We met Meghan + Erik at the Greenbelt Farmers Market and Foggy Bottom Farmers Market. Dicot Farm is a small, but mighty operation.
