The Farm at Sunnyside for Thursday June 4!

Certified organic produce from The Farm at Sunnyside, which is just 75 miles from Washington DC. Here's the lineup for Thursday 6/4!

LARGE VEGGIE BAG!

This week's large veggie bag for Thursday 6/4 is telling us to STIR FRY or KOREAN BBQ or KIMCHI! Here's what your bag will contain:

1 Asian green (pac choi or tat soi): Try me in a stir fry or on the grill. Marinade me in ginger + miso.
1 bag (1/3 to 1/2 lb) salad greens (lettuce, arugula, baby kale or a mix of all): Spring is salad time.
1 head Napa cabbage or green cabbage: Make a slaw or stir fry with this as your base.
1 bunch broccoli: Who doesn't love broccoli? This variety is an Asian bunching type which is a bit sweeter and cooks quickly over high heat. Try some soy sauce, sesame oil and chili flakes.
1 kohlrabi or 1 bunch scallions: Kohlrabi may look weird but it is crunchy and sweet and goes well in a stir fry. Scallions are wonderful for topping your pad thai or fried rice.
1 bunch cilantro: Top your Asian + Mexican dishes. Or, make a slaw with that cabbage + radishes or turnips + kohlrabi or scallions!
1 bunch fresh sweet onions: These are the base of all of our meals right now. Use the greens too!!!
1 bunch radishes (french or red) or Asian turnips: Eat raw on salads or for a snack. Also, both are good ingredients for that stir fry!
1 cucumber: Our first of the season. Sweet + crunchy. Just eat it.
Optional add-on! 1 pint of ramp bulbs foraged by Tom of Villa Fungi:

SMALL VEGGIE BAG!

It's the Italian veggie bag! Try fennel + radicchio + favas or peas with some lemon juice, olive oil + parmesan. The small veggie bag for Thursday 6/4 delivery will delight you with

1 bag salad greens (1/3 to 1/2 lb): Try me in salads, in pitas, on a sandwich!

1 fennel : Fennel is great braised with pork. Or, shave to top pasta with those peas + parsley!

1 fresh sweet onion : Onions are the base of every meal that we make here. Enjoy both the bulbs and greens. Great on the grill, too!

1 bunch parsley : Super versatile herb. Think Italian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. A wonderful accompaniment to lemon juice.

1 head radicchio or 1 bunch Spigarello : Radicchio is great lightly sauteed or grilled with some oil and lemon juice. Spigarello is an Italian variety of leaf broccoli that should be used as you would kale.

1 bag fava beans or snap peas : Both of these are a spring treat. Fava beans are a bit of work to prepare but the reward is worth it. Get them while you can!
